A pleasant sunny but windy afternoon greeted the riders at Cardiff Ajax CC’s 10 mile time trial on Saturday 25th March on the Abercarn-Risca course. Fortunately the roadworks that covered half the course in the morning were removed less than 30 minutes before the first rider was due to depart meaning the race was over the full 10 miles. A month earlier than last year and on a redesigned course, the Betty Pharoah Memorial Legstretchers Road Race organised by Cardiff Ajax CC proved every bit to be a Spring Classic – bar the wet weather dogged by a slightly bigger one in Italy the same day. From Mick –
The skies opened on the 14 hardy souls who turned out for last Friday’s TT, the penultimate round of the series. Despite the difficult and wet conditions, again some good times were ridden, perhaps helped along by the gusting south easterly wind and despite not being able to go full gas on some of the faster parts of the return leg. With one round to go, we have a new series leader, none other than Pat Jennings who seems to have discovered a love of time trialling over a variety of distances this year. He holds a 6 second lead over second placed Ben Carroll, both with 5 rides done. Continue reading “Club 10 TT Round 10”
A warm evening with a light breeze made for good conditions and a turnout of 21 starters including a guest rider, Michael Gallagher of the Australian Paralympic team who is in a training camp in Newport. Some good times ridden, our guest doing a very fast 21:45, which included an overshoot and U turn at the Cowbridge slip road. There were good sub-25 times from Graeme Boswell, Sion Jones and Dan Wood. We now have a new series leader, John Chichester with a best average of 27:44 with 5 rides completed but there are a number of others on 4 and 3 rides chasing, including the club’s all-distances TT guru, Toby Hopper.
