Club 10 TT – Final Series Results

The rain held off for what turned out to be a bit of a gloomy evening for the final round of the summer TT series.  We had 22 starters as well as Mark and Lisa going 2-up so a good turn out to end things on.  This week saw a number of people complete the 5 rides to qualify for an overall placing, Dave Medhurst turning in a 23:22, a consistent performance with his other 4 times to take the series.  Congratulations to him. Dan Wood was second with 4 very respectable sub 25 times, let down a little by his first run.  Continue reading “Club 10 TT – Final Series Results”

Club 10 TT Round 10

From Mick –

The skies opened on the 14 hardy souls who turned out for last Friday’s TT, the penultimate round of the series.  Despite the difficult and wet conditions, again some good times were ridden, perhaps helped along by the gusting south easterly wind and despite not being able to go full gas on some of the faster parts of the return leg.  With one round to go, we have a new series leader, none other than Pat Jennings who seems to have discovered a love of time trialling over a variety of distances this year.  He holds a 6 second lead over second placed Ben Carroll, both with 5 rides done.  Continue reading “Club 10 TT Round 10”

Club 10 TT Round 9

Wet conditions with a stiff southerly wind made for challenging conditions for the 15 riders.  Times sere not generally as fast as the previous week when conditions were almost ideal but a number of riders have ridden their best times and made substantial improvements over previous similarly windy and wet runs.  As the series is drawing to a close, we now have 6 riders who have completed 5 runs, with John Chichester having done 6 so his slowest time doesn’t figure in the results.  Continue reading “Club 10 TT Round 9”

Ajax Club 10 TT – Round 6

Pleasant sunny weather with a light breeze brought out 23 starters, including a two-up for another enjoyable evening.  Some good times were recorded, Dave Medhurst coming in on a series best so far of 23:23 and a number of others who now have few rides under the belt such as Louis Adams, John Chichester and Rob Morgan put in their fastest times yet.  Rob remains in the lead with 5 rides done and if he keeps improving, some of his earlier times will fall out of the calculations.  There are now a handful of others with 3 and 4 rides done chasing close behind.
As the Olympic Road Race trip is coming up, we may take a break from the time trials this Friday (27 July) but will confirm on website and Facebook  by Thursday.

Club 10 TT – Round 5

A good turnout saw 17 riders take on the challenging Club 10 course on a dry evening (!) There were good times set by all riders and a couple of TTTs too. Conditions were decent with a moderate westerly headwind on the way out turning into a tail wind on the run back in. There has been a change in the overall standings, with Rob Morgan taking the top spot after having ridden 4 times now. As a reminder, the series is based on your 5 best times so the more you do the better the chance you have.

Club 10 TT – Round 4

Seven hardy souls including Matt Burns & young Dylan on a tandem showed up for a wet time trial last Friday night.  Despite the rain, which was truly miserable, the wind was down and some good times were recorded.  Dave Medhust managed a series best so far of 24’ 11” and there were other times in the 25 minute bracket.  Louis Adams reported a new PB for pulse rate of 217, taking his at home crazy turbo regime out onto the road.  With Bernard and Rob Morgan the only riders with 3 runs to their name, Bernard still leads but there are some good average times chasing up the rear.  Liz Webb is running proceedings this Friday 13th (maybe a fancy dress horror theme?) as Tony & Mick are at the Etape.  Anyone who can help with pushing off and at the Cowbridge turn, please let Liz know.

Summer 2012 10 mile Time Trial Series

Report of Rounds 1 & 2

After a late notice start to the series last week and a turnout of 4, this week we had 12.  Conditions were tough with a stiff headwind to battle against for the outbound leg but at least it was dry.  There were a number of first time testers out and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

The stand out performance of the evening was Toby Hopper with a time of 26:03 from Jif’s Andrew Jeans at 27:21 with most of the next best times being in the 28 minute bracket.  But, it’s a series of 5 best rides this year, the interim series leader is Bernard, 23 seconds ahead of John Chichester both with 2 rides complete.
