The Reliability Rides will take place on the first three Sundays in February.
- Sunday 2nd February: 50 miles hilly
- Sunday 9th February: 75 miles
- Sunday 16th February: 100 miles
Although the hilly ride is only 50 miles (a little more actually!), its difficulty should not be under-estimated, it is quite tough, so be prepared please. Be assured there are coffee and cake stops on these rides!
For each ride there will be a staggered start time, with the groups that are relatively faster going first for the 50 and 75 mile rides to avoid the groups merging with each other on the route. (Please remain with the group you are assigned to.) For the 50 and the 75 there will be 6 groups leaving Maindy starting with the fastest away at 9.15am. Groups will go off in order of pace every 5 minutes so the last group will be away by 9.40am. For the 100 it will be reversed with the steady group being the first away at 8.30am with groups leaving every 10 minutes up to the fast group at 9.10am with the racing/elite group leaving at 9.30am.
Please arrive at Maindy at least 20 minutes before your group is scheduled to leave. If you sign online, you will be able to choose which group you ride with, but only on a first-come-first-served basis. Each ride will cost £3 which will cover the cost of insurance through British Cycling; this is an increase on 2013 because the cost of insurance has risen.
To participate in a ride you must sign-on, preferably online beforehand rather than on the day by visiting the Reliability Ride Registration Page. You will be asked for the following details:
- Your name
- Your mobile phone number (carry the same mobile on the day please!)
- Emergency contact (name of next of kin)
- Emergency contact number
You will also be required to indicate which rides you are intending to go on and which group you wish to join (with group 1 being the fastest).
Only riders who have signed-on will be permitted to join one of the organized groups. Please do not join a group if you have not signed-on. Each group will take a limit of 14 riders, although it may be 18 riders for the 100 mile event. It may be possible to sign-on in person at Maindy before the start of a ride, but if all groups are full, you will not be able to ride. So sign online please to avoid disappointment!
