Dear Club Members
We hope those of you who were able to make it out this Sunday enjoyed what was the last club ride of 2013. The weather was kinder to some than others! The Festive Group can confirm that tinsel is weatherproof!
There will be a track session at Maindy this Monday 23 December, depending on weather conditions. Also, there will be a club ride on Sunday 29 December, but no pre-arranged groups; we will decide on groups and where to go on the day. No doubt numbers will be low given the time of year. There are likely to be some social rides over the Festive Season, for example, there is usually a New Year’s Day ride leaving Maindy at 10.00an. Exceptionally, we would ask that you keep your eye on the Facebook group for details of these rides. There will, I’m sure, be a number of people seeking to arrange smaller group rides, too.
Looking further ahead to next year, some of you will be interested to note the dates for our Reliability Rides. These comprise the Hilly 50, a 75 mile ride and a 100 mile ride over consecutive Sundays; provisional dates are 2, 9 and 16 February. The rides are designed to test you and your bikes in readiness for the season ahead. The rides are popular so we will be grateful for volunteers to assistant with administration or as ride leaders. Please contact Martyn Lock if would like to lead a group. Those who rode last year will remember that we had a “Sign On” and charged all riders a minimum amount to cover our insurance costs.
And, of course, there is the Club Dinner on 25 January 2014 – a key event in the Ajax calendar. Please contact Julian Attfield or Nia James if you’d like to attend. You’ll find further details about this, including cost and contact details, elsewhere on the website.
Finally, we want to wish you and your families a Merry Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year. Ride safely.
Graeme Donnan and Nia James
