Club Rides – Sunday 6th October

Posted by on Oct 4, 2013 in News | 1 comment

Here are the new requirements for group rides.

If anyone is looking to ride with one of the organised groups on a Sunday, they must if asked by any of the ride leaders, be able to show their club membership card. This will usually be the case where a ride leader does not know someone within their group. There will be 2 exceptions.

1. where someone would like to join the club and is unsure if they will like riding in a group. They can come for the first ride but if they want to come again they must join.

2. all new beginners on the first Sunday each month.

If you are asked for your membership card and cannot produce it you will not be allowed to ride with a group.

Also, if you have club kit can you please wear it?

There are 4 designated groups this week.

TIM will lead the FAST 1 group from Maindy- Pontypridd- Gelli- Bwlch- Blaengwynfi- Cymmer- Bryn- Maesteg- Tondu- Heol Y Cyw- Miskin- Llandaff- Maindy. 70 miles 2 climbs.

There will not be a FAST 2 group however, if the above group is too big we will split it and I will take another group.

SIMON will lead INTERMEDIATE 1 group from Maindy- Double Newport Flats to Crick-Shirenewton- Usk(coffee)- Llangybi- Caerleon- A48 back to Maindy. 65 miles 1 climb.

PETE will lead INTERMEDIATE 2 group from Maindy- Newport Flats- Caerleon- Flood Rd to Usk(coffee)- Llangybi- Newport- A48 back to Maindy. 50 miles rolling.

CHRIS will lead STEADY/BEGINNERS group from Maindy- Wenvoe- Barry- Llandow- Cowbridge(coffee)- A48 back to Maindy. 38 miles rolling.

Whilst we appreciate we will never get things perfect, we are at least trying to make the Sunday rides more varied and safer. Your attention to the above will be much appreciated.

Thanks and enjoy the rides

    Hi all,

Just a quick message to thank you for letting myself and my daughter Sydnie ride with the intermediate group last sunday. Sydnie is a member of Newport Olympic but we live in Pontypridd, so riding from Maindy was a nice change. We hope to join you again next sunday.
Thanks again for the welcome, it was much appreciated.
