Wednesday Club Night
Club Night takes place the Second Wednesday of every Month. 8.30pm after the ride. It is a great opportunity to meet other Club Members and discuss up and coming events, training and entries. Tea, coffee, chocolate and cake or biscuits available. Maindy facilites can be used to shower and change following the ride.
Wednesday Summer Training (April to September)
During the summer months we leave Maindy Track between 6.15 and 6.30 pm for road bike training. There are usually two or three groups of different abilities. The faster groups will do chaingang as race training. The slower group will ride the same route at a steadier pace.
The route has varied year to year but flats to Newport and back along the A48, with several small loops for faster riders, has been selected recently.
2010
Fast Group will leave Maindy at 6.30pm. This will be a fast chaingang suitable for experienced cyclists. (ave speed 22mph, max speed on flats up to 30mph) along the flats to Newport and back along the A48 adding loops though Marshfield
Middle group will leave Maindy at 6.20pm. This will be a steady reasonably fast chaingang (ave speed 19-20mph, max speed on flats 25mph approx) along the flats to Newport and back along the A48 adding loops though Marshfield as season progresses.
Slower Group will leave Maindy at 6.30pm. This will be a steady ride (ave speed 17mph, max speed on flats 22mph approx) along the flats to Newport and back along the A48.
The slower group will do their best to keep everyone together waiting when necessary for punctures etc. The middle and fast groups will not be expected to wait for dropped riders, although individual riders may stop to help, so riders must be able to find their own way home and mend punctures, it is advisable to carry a mobile phone. If these riders then join the slower group they must not pick up the pace and are expected to help weaker riders if necessary.
